I (used to) drink my coffee with a straw. I usually follow most of the law. but we got stuck down on the streets of Ottawa, singing well I'm just askin for a ride. We used to be Vancouver bound, but the freight trains had no buckets to be found. so we got high in the woods of Parry Sound. Singing, well I'm just askin for a ride. chorus: I laid myself down in the dirt. I took all of my gear off first. I let the roots from the plants and the trees and the weeds drag my body down deep into the Earth. We spent too long living on snacks, but we finally made it all the way east to Halifax, I didn't care if I ever made it back, singing well I'm just asking for some time. You know that I don't stay up late, but we made it all the way to Montréal riding freight. God damn us if it didn't have to rain, singin well I'm just trying to stay dry. chorus. first verse.

You were a wild animal and I was just your friend. I don't know how to love but I like to pretend. So I told you all my faults and all the bad things that I done, then I tangled up my life in yours and we set out on the run. You talked me into hopping west even though I swore it off, and it was raining when we got off the train, we got chased out by the cops. The rain followed us through most the trip as we worked on building trust, and the highway even washed out a few hours behind us. Chorus: (and) it's alright now. Everything that's ever been inside of me is alright now. and if my fears were earthquakes there would be no level ground. But everything that's every been inside of me is alright now. I put down my old ways and learned violin for you. I gave you all the tricks I had and I gave you a tattoo. I should have gotten you to give me one right back there and then. cause 2 years went by like a flash and that never did happen. Chorus. You could be a handful, and I know I could too. We never did feel heart to heart on a couple of issues. I thought about ending it, but you did it in the end. I never did learn how to love but I like to pretend. Yeah I never did learn how to love, but I like to pretend.

Abaddon 02:31
At the centre of our galaxy there is a black hole some call Sagittarius A*, but I know that it's name is Abaddon, I heard when I listened to hard. I have lived so long I have seen the Earth go around the Sun 20 or so times, 20 more for my mother, 20 more for her mother 20 times, 20 times, oh Abaddon. My whole species has lived so long it's seen the Earth go around the Sun 200 000 times, and in all that time the sun has not seen all sides of Abaddon. Chorus: It's faceless, they named it, so strong that no wave can escape it. Space and Time trade names inside of Abaddon. Some people say you're not as great as you are, and others still say you're just the corpse of a star. The heathens believe in right handed neutrinos Abaddon, oh Abaddon. I have learned not to believe in much. I'm quick to caution and slow to trust. Lessons learned they're often hard but they're true, like how someone that you care about so much might be better off without you. Chorus

They had a burned out headlight, and I had a burned out mind. they had a lot of money and I had a lot of time. The way they spoke to me made me pack my bags just now. And I've been leavin town tomorrow for 3 days now. The clouds were full of rain that simply would now fall. the tractor trailers were all local, none of of them were long haul. the forest is on fire and the trucks are much too loud. And I've been leavin town tomorrow for 3 days now. I watched this whole town fall asleep and I watched it wake again. As I sat there overheating just wishing for a friend. I'm stuck down in the desert and my water has run out. And I've been leavin town tomorrow for 3 days now. I've been leavin town tomorrow for 3 days now.

It took so long just to stand on my feet again, I'm feelin like a foul just learning how to walk. My hands are awkward these strings unfamiliar, but good or bad, life goes on. This year's so long and it's taken it's toll on me, I spent too long hiding in my den. I laid low and stayed quiet as I could, but I'm dusting off my vocal chords and singing again. I'm disheveled and my clothes are torn again, my eyes are strained and blood shot red. I'm afraid of everyone I see, but I'm pickin up my fiddle again. It took so long just to stand on my feet again, I'm feelin like a foul just learning how to walk. My hands are awkward these strings unfamiliar, but good or bad, life goes on.

Sometime I have ideas that I like that could really go somewhere, but I'm not very good at finishing off what I start.
